i. Am. ALIVE!

Holy cow has it been a while since I wrote something on here. It's not that I haven't been writing. I have. In the past 2 months I've written two separate proposals for school, which has kept me from writing anything here and been cranking away doing experiments for my thesis. I'm one step closer to getting PhD candidacy, finishing up teaching and grading and in a few weeks I'll be in full on summer mode.

Despite, how busy I've been, I've still managed to get some training in and I'm feeling like this is the best shape I've ever been in. I feel optimistic about the season and I'm really raring to go. Xterra East championships are a month and a half away and I can't wait. I've been studying the course and feel that I can really do well there (The link goes to a top Xterra AGer who turned pro this year). Since the course is so technical, I'm really anxious to spend some time on the trails and not be droning away on the trainer. Xterra's really do stress bike strength and I think I'm definitely bike fit but I need to get familiar with reading trail lines and riding over obstacles again.

In other news, I received my Wattie Ink elite team kit and all I can say is, "Wow!" Probably the best designed kit I've ever had. After a workout in it on the trainer, I love it and can't wait to race in it. The shop will be going live any day now so be sure to check it out for your racing/casual apparel needs.

As some of you may remember, I gave up coffee for Lent and replaced it with tea. I can confirm it was definitely cheaper/cup by like 20 cents (which adds up). I definitely developed a taste for tea, especially rooibos. There's something about coffee though that says, "Good Morning! It's time to make it a great day." That I just don't get from tea but I found it works in a pinch if I don't have coffee and it'll be a much easier option during camping trips as well.

Now that things have settled down a bit, I'll be making a better effort to write more. Only 6 more weeks until my first race in Richmond so things are going to get exciting here real quick!
