Hello!
This is not my first time blogging but this is my new site and if you're new Welcome! and if you've seen some of my other stuff, Welcome back! My old blog was very triathlon specific but for this blog I'm thinking I'm going to put much more of "me" into it. What does that mean? Well I think instead of just writing about science or training and racing, its going to talk about issues I feel strongly about. These could be anything from science, to training, to nutrition, cooking, and basically anything I feel like. I'm hoping this will be much more interesting than only writing about one aspect of my life.
Before I get going too far though, let me give you a quick run down of who I am. I grew up in upstate NY. I swam all through college and got a bachelor's degree in medicinal chemistry from University at Buffalo. After graduating I was pretty burned out from swimming and took a few years off from competing. I started getting into running and slowly enough found my way to triathlon and at about the same time I started graduate school at University of New Hampshire in the fall of 2011.
I enjoy lots of sports and have competed in mountain biking, trail running, swimming, XC skiing, triathlons and water polo. However, my favorite discipline is Xterra (off road triathlon) racing. Spending so much time in the woods has molded me into a bit of conservationist. I think this is because I can see up close the kind of impact we have on our environment. I recently became a vegan and I'll acknowledge I am a bit of a coffee and beer snob too.
So I think a little bit of everything will be on this blog and I hope you enjoy it and visit often. I also hope you'll follow me on twitter @KevinShoes703. Well that's all for now, until next time!
